For Rakuten-listed hotels we used Rakuten Travel's own room search for 5, 6 and 8 adults in a single room; for hand-checked hotels the capacity comes from the official site. Children can count differently, so check the plan for your family.

How we checked room sizes for big families

For hotels listed on Rakuten Travel, we searched Rakuten Travel for one room for 5, 6 and 8 adults on two weekday dates and kept the room types it returned. A room that sleeps 5 adults sleeps at least 5 people, but some hotels count small children separately or not at all, so the exact limit for your family may differ.
